Openers
- “Get out before I pump these fucking slugs into your fucking chest!” Matthias bellows at Henry, emphasizing his point by waving his pistol at the other man’s heaving chest.
- Elizabeth blows out the candle and makes her way towards the bed. She hits her shin on the bedpost and jumps around clutching her shin and cursing her bad luck.
- Albert laughs maniacally as he slashes the pillow with a machete. “I’m so going to get you, bitch.” He mutters fervently as he slashes away. “You think you can just play around with me like some mongrel pup?”
- Ahmad yawns contentedly and stretches before getting out of bed. He then runs his fingers though his tousled hair as he looks around blearily for his towel before heading to have his shower.
- “What the bleeding hell?!” Nicole shrieks when a plate of pudding flew over her head. She recovers and demands, “Oi! Who threw that?”
- “I swear if I see that man again, I’ll fucking run a marathon from here to Timbuktu,” Susan flicks her cigarette onto the ground and stubs it out with the heel of her boot. She sees a reflection of herself on the display window of a shop and stops momentarily to touch up her make-up. “But then again, I keep saying that to myself…” She trails off as she dabs some powder over a bruise that had bloomed on her right cheek.
- ”I promise I’ll come back to you,” He murmurs affectionally as he nuzzles her soft neck and breathes in her scent, trying his best to put it to memory. He then pulls away reluctantly. “I have to go now. Remember, I’ll always be with you. Somehow…” He leaves her, seemingly ignoring her pleas for him to stay longer.
- He raises both his arms, prompting the crowd to sing along to the song. Sweat dribbles from his forehead down to his neck as he warbles out the lyrics. He spots some good looking girls in the crowd and gestures for them to come up to the stage. They scramble up without any hesitation. Great. He’ll have some fun that night.
- She sits on the steps and looks blankly into the darkness that had engulfed the garden. “He’s gone…”
- He has never cried before and yet here he was, on the steering wheel, bawling his eyes out like a babe that yearns for its mother’s breast milk.
- “And just where do you think you’re going?” He blocks her path, grinning his toothless grin. He limps towards her, thrusting his arms out to grab her in an embrace. “C’mon honey…”
- She sits beside him and holds his clammy hands, “I know you. You aren’t one to run away from a fight but sometimes you’ve just got to slow down and think things over.” She gives his hands a reassuring squeeze before standing up and ruffling his hair affectionally.
And finito!
Goodness, done painstakingly with the help of Nirvana and Hans Zimmer’s ‘One Day’.
Yep, affection and angst in one day. Overloaaaad.
Goodness! Some of the openers seem related with each other, such as the garden scene and the leaving scene, as well as the toothless guy whom I think is Albert. Ooh a story unfolds…
A lot of these openers are quite long – when you do that, it defeats the point of the opener by closing any potential it had to be anything else. Openers are best when they’re short and open to interpretation.
aawww, dang! XD
